The GOLDS is a 34 minute documentary by filmmaker and choreographer Sue Healey.
The GOLD Company (Growing Old Disgracefully) is a group of Canberrans aged 60-90 years, who after retiring from a diversity of careers, now live to dance.
This film is about creative energy despite ageing bodies, and the Golds reveal what is important in their golden years – dancing together and the desire to keep learning. They train in contemporary dance and perform in many cultural institutions in the ACT and have recently undertaken their first international tour to the UK and Europe in 2015.
The film breaks the stereotype that dance is only for the young and brings into the spotlight, the intelligence and insight that age can bring. The GOLDS dance up a storm with passion, humour and grace.

"Shows the transformative power of dance…a truly beautiful film. "

"Sue Healey’s finely tuned choreographer’s eye is perfectly reflected in every image of Judd Overton’s exquisite cinematography to produce a film which is in effect its own form of dance…visually arresting…mesmerising."
Bill Stephens - Canberra Critics Circle
“Dancing into old age might just save us all.” Dr Erin Brannigan
“This moving group puts the ‘growing’ back into growing old.” Nikki Heywood
“No experience needed but once you start you cant’ stop. It’s highly addictive. Bright eyes, teen spirit and wise grace from the mouths of babes, in the bodies of the golds.” Julie-Anne Long
